Building Bridges
I took this at my parents' this afternoon. We weren't planning on coming up here for a long while, but the bridge I just had put in fell out. So, we made the trek up here and dropped Raoul off at the old house on the way. He's taking the truck and another load down to Georgia. The drive up was just beautiful. I kept wanting to get a picture, but I wanted to get here as soon as possible too. So, I ended up taking one once I got here, but the trees aren't quite as pretty here as they were closer to the mountains. I thought about posting a picture of my current smile, but I couldn't bring myself to. Its amazing how much this is affecting my entire life. Its a tooth that's right in the front, so I feel like quite the hillbilly. I'm avoiding going in anywhere, I don't smile, I hardly talk, and I think about it constantly. My brain can't function or concentrate on anything, because I'm so obsessed with it. Tomorrow though, I'll once again feel human.

Victoria, did I miss something? I don't remember hearing about your tooth being pulled. What happened? Are you getting something to replace it?
Its a long story. I'm actually missing one of my teeth that's beside the front one. Its just not there and never was. After braces as a teen to create a space for the tooth, I had a bridge put in. The life expectancy for a bridge is about 10 years, and mine lasted for 12. We put in new one, but it broke within 2 months. We're not sure why, but jaw clenching is high up on the list of possible suspects. So, we switched to a stronger material, but its really hard to bond. It simply fell out last week. It wasn't a conventional bridge, as we used as much of my teeth as possible. We had decided to switch to a conventional bridge, which I went in to have done today. However, once she started looking at my teeth again she decided they were too small and the risk of having to do a root canal was too great. So, I'm getting what's called a flipper for the time being and once our house in NC sells I'll start work on an implant.
I keep forgetting it is fall. I miss seeing the autumn colors. Anyway, Victoria, I hope they are able to replace the bridge in a timely mannor.
